I have cried a river

Vale Stanley. The best and funniest of small dogs. Mighty ratter in his prime, he passed away today, in my arms, assisted by a very gentle veterinarian. My heart is broken, but I know it will mend, and I’ll have another scar to mark another tragedy in my life. Loving and losing a pet is always hard, but it was worth it. Thanks mate, you made us very happy for a very long time.

Dee, I just left a comment on BoaB's post.

Please accept my condolences. We have dogs as well, they brighten our lives every single day, and I was every bit as devastated as you when we lost one to serious illness.

He brought great joy to your lives, you brought great joy to his. He could not have asked for a better life or family.

Really sorry to hear this Dee. My condolences to you and BoaB.

Same thing with our cat Oscar last year. Hardest thing I've ever done.

I am so very sorry to read about the loss of your beloved Vale Stanely, your mentor and confidant. I bet he had the very best life he ever could have wished for.

Thanks so much Lily and of course Bluenoser. It amazes me that I have such support from the ether.

I'm sorry to hear about the loss of Stanley. I still remember the time I was at your place and I was playing with Stanley and he was going crazy for that yellow tennis ball. He was such a happy dog.

Dogs give us so much and ask so little. They do leave a giant hole but it gets (mostly) filled with the mountain of pleasant memories they leave us. Your words in his memory are as lovely as I'm sure his life with was.
