black cockatoos in the gum tree

A gathering at the bottom of my garden. The photo, of course, does them no justice. They are about my favorite Australian bird. Note also the remains of the big eagles nest at top right. The baby and his folks have left the nest (Junior is bigger than either of the folks, I swear). The cockatoos are big, about the size of a black backed gull (for all you Maritimers).

As long as they don't swoop down upon you like the Magpies do, you'll be okay!

Cockatoos are gentle souls. No swooping.
